In 10 days, the 20 participants and the crew of the JC066/067 research cruise are going to leave Cape Town on board the RRS James Cook for a 45-day expedition in the southwest Indian Ocean. We are going to see the harbor diminishing in size, diminishing … and eventually vanishing, and after that, it will be us, the ship and the sea for the following 6-7 weeks.
But let’s come back to here for a while. Most of us are still at home, being very busy, either to prepare the cruise or to complete other types of work. Time goes fast during this pre-cruise period. And I am sure I can talk for every participant, not to mention the people involved in the organization!
